Slow rendering and no textures on most of ground in trunk.

Post by nobby »

Hi,

I've just attempted to compile the current trunk WZ2100 with MinGW/MSys and got it to compile. The machine I'm running it on (HP XW9300, Nvidia Quadro FX1400, current drivers as of a few weeks ago) compiled it fine (with a bit of fiddling).

At this point I am attempting to drop the binary into the existing 2.2.1 install, just replacing Warzone2100.exe. When I run it I get the following symptoms:

o 3D rendering is slow, much slower than it was on 2.2.1 on the same machine.

o Most (but not all) ground tiles have no textures.

o The central part of the screen does not display the sky texture in bits where the sky should be visible, but the left and right side do. There is a large black section.

Have I missed anything obvious?

EDIT:

I tried it in the trunk build directory and got faster rendering and ground textures. Is this the texture mod I've seen discussed in the forums?

However, I still get the black section of the background.

Nigel.

Leave it in wherever it was compiled to.

You can't drop a trunk binary into a 2.2.1 installation directory; they're mostly incompatible. If you really want it to be in Program Files, use one of the old trunk installer builds, and replace it with your built binary.

Do you have a screenshot of your other problem?

That's probably the broken skybox (#575).

Here's a screendump showing the issue. I've shrunk the image because it was too large bit still shows the issue happening.

You got a screenshot of the other issues you talked about, or are those moot now?

And yeah, that is the skybox problem.
and it ends here.
