hy,
wondering what would happen if the buildings had triple the poly count or something like that (hq factory reaserch facility...the big ones...)
gme crashes? or lags or nothing

With all of the game engines i have used,(bge, torque, unreal, quake etc) tripling or even quadrupling poly count only lags/freezes/crashes if the users videocard isn't very good. But i don't have experience with wz engine

i think all the objects should have more polies if the engine can support. The games all ready has extremely low system requirements.

Adding more polygons isn't going to slow down the game unless you're on a slow graphics card.
We do have to keep the poly count fairly low, because there are plenty of people that are, though.
That said, if you want higher poly counts, feel free to make newer models yourself.

I would make them high poly, and medium, and low for now, then you can make mods, and test to see what kind of performance hit your going to get.
Adaptive LOD could come to the engine one of these days...
