Sound in movie sequences

Post by Setekh »

First of all, thank you all for reviving one of my most cherish RTS games of all time.
If there's a donation button somewhere I'd be more than happy to throw a few bones your way.

Main issue for me, I grabbed 2.2.1 recently and the accompanying movies, but the sound in the movie sequences is slightly distorted and cuts in and out erratically regardless of volume. The sound in the rest of the game is fine.

Another small issue in the main game world is sound positioning. Sometimes an event will occur on the right side of the screen i.e: an explosion, but the sound will come out of the left speaker/headphone. Basically it's acting like I got reverse stereo on or something, but everything else is fine, all other games are fine with sound setup.

Brief system specifications:

Asus A8N SLi
AMD Opteron 165
X1950 pro
SB Audigy 2ZS
Windows XP SP3

Tried different sound drivers but same result.

We'll be reencoding the videos eventually (the current ones are extremely low quality), so that should fix it somewhat.

We've known about this issue for ages (it happens for everyone), but no one knows enough about sound to fix it. :/
