How do I create AI templates?

Post by Arreon »

I'm tired of the AI using the exact same units over and over again. I want a variety. The same goes for structures. There are no ripple rockets, incendiary howitzers, and lots of other things. I've read through the template files in the trunk and in the original CD files, and I would like to make some additions, but I'm worried that I might :gonk: the entire game.

My biggest problem is trying to find the names for the templates I have in mind. Is there a system for naming them? Or are each given a special name?

Five templates for each tier I would like in the game are

T1

1: Heavy-MG/Bug/Tracks (or half-tracks)
2: Light Cannon/Bug/Tracks (or half-tracks)
3: Light Cannon/Bug/Hover
4: Flamer/Cobra/Hover
5: Heavy cannon/Mantis/Tracks

T2

1: Assault Cannon/Cobra/Tracks
2: Assault Cannon/Mantis/Hover
3: Inferno/Panther/Hover
4: Assault Gun/Cobra (or Panther)/Hover
5: Hurricane AA/Mantis/Hover

T3

1: Pulse Laser/Retribution/Hover
2: Vindicator SAM/Retribution/Hover
3: Stormbringer AA/Vengeance/Hover
4: Flashlight/Retaliation/Hover
5: Needle Gun/Retaliation/Hover

If this is more complex than meets the eye, could someone add these in for 2.2.1 please?

O_o
Eh?
Change the AI script files. Then make a mod. Then have people play test it. Then when everyone thinks the change is good, make a new ticket: http://developer.wz2100.net/newticket with the changes.

Then it could possibly be in 2.2.x...
and it ends here.

There are no AI script files. I looked in every folder.

When I had the original CD, I edited the vlo and slo fies as a test. That's what I'm looking for.

I found the AI files I'm looking for in Trac, but not in the game files on my hard drive.

Extract out base.wz (rename it to .zip if you need to).

It's in base.wz/multiplay/skirmish/
