I'm on vista but on my Ubuntu i have the same issue with my Dell Vostro 1700. The problems starts directly when the game starts. With "starts" i mean when i'm done with the menu and the fun is supposed to happen.

Weird. Try updating to your latest video card drivers. What are your specs?

I did update my drivers. all of them. I have don't have a videocard but an accelerator.

My specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz
2.00 GB memory
32 bit Vista OS

A earlier version of warzone did work. The original CD version also worked on my vista and XP.

A video card and a graphics accelerator is exactly the same thing. All modern desktop/laptop style computers have them. What is yours called?

That *is* a video driver issue.

Looks like it isn't clearing the backbuffer.

Try reverting back, if you are using the latest version of the drivers.
and it ends here.

You need to ask Dell. There should be a option some place on the page that has a archive of older drivers, or you may be able to use Nvidia drivers from http://www.nvidia.com (though, I am not sure if those will work or not--usually, with a laptop, you need to get OEM drivers)

*edit*, I *think* the specs on that laptop has a Nvidia gfx chipset.... if it don't then the Nvidia drivers won't help.
and it ends here.

Lots of laptops have Intel graphics chipsets. If yours is, try here:
