Multiplayer server

Post by tuant20 »

Hi all,
I have a question: Does anyone know anywhere like http://www.gamespyarcade.com/ which has the multiplayer server?
Currently, gamespyarcade supports only warzon2100 patch 1.10, am I correct?

yes you are correct.
‎"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

Does anyone know anywhere like http://www.gamespyarcade.com/ which has the multiplayer server (or master server or dedicated server, ...) which support warzone?

Sorry dude but gamespy is the only one "server" where you can find somebody who play wz too. If you will find something else there is no garanty that there someone will be.

But  WRP is working on  dedicated Server, maybe soon they present it for 2.0.x versions but till then you can only wait... :( like me

I can tell you for sure that it will not come for 2.0 ;)
It is planed to work on improving the network part for 2.1, so don't expect anything before that.

Too bad theres no server to support 2.0.5 but you can try and play on Hamachi, thats free program that emulates LAN network, you just need people to download it and join ur server and then you can host/join games like on lan. try it

so if I am willing to contribute my effort to this project on this issue, you have to adjust your plan?

No.
No rewrites for 2.0... That goes all into 2.1. The chance of breaking something when rewriting the netcode is immense, so it will not go into the stable branch.
If you want to, you can still contribute a rewrite for 2.1. Actually we'd love to see more devs. :)

* Terrific recommendation ! Puts a whole new spin on the possibilities for WZ MP henceforth. :)

Being a 'official' developer means (at the momment) just that you have direct access to the SVN.
But everyone can send own patches to the Dev-Mailinglist.

See: I want to work on the sourcecode, how can I submit my changes?

Yes, I mean how to become a member of this project and have direct access to the SVN because I've ever posted my changes to the project through other member

As it usually happens in open source projects;
You start off by just sending your patches to the mailing list, and they are deemed good, the will get merged into the trunk.
If you keep up the trend of providing quality patches, you'll get write access.

No, MP-Games over the internet are possible.
There is currently no masterserver which can list you open/waiting games.
But you can join by typing the IP of the hoster.
