What do you think about my skirmish strategy???
Here's the method i use to win in skirmish mode.
I NEVER create tanks. Not even a single ONE.
I start by creating hover trucks.
Then send them in all directions.
just as i find a narrow path, i create a small blockade there, with mrl emplacement, mortar pits, behind the walls which block access to my region.
Then i start buiding oil derricks and start researching everything.
If i have hellstorms and ripple rockets, i place at least a dozen of them inside the base, to make it 100% secure, and also act as artillery fire when i venture out.
then come the vtol factory and a dozen of rearming pads.
then i set up vtol strike towers at blockades where vtols play with the poor enemy.
then i send my trucks, protected by cover fire of ripple rockets etc., further into the map and start creating defensive structures around oil resources.
As soon i build my own oil derricks, i create a saml fortress of towers, pepperpots, mrls and hellstorms etc.
all that is left for me to do now is to build sensor near the left enemy derricks and base. hellstorms and ripple rockets and vtols do the rest!!!!
What do you think about my strategy???
Any type of comments and criticism appreciated.
I think i concentrate too much on research work, so much that i often run out of resources. is this strategy right??

- Sounds like you are having fun. Are you ? That's really all that matters.
- This Strat & Tacs is working for you with a particular A.I., at the difficulty level you have set-up, your particular start prefs and the maps
you've chosen to play on.
- But, to answer your question precisely - this strategy will not work against all Skirmish A.I.s, on all Maps, with all start prefs, or at the highest difficulty settings..
- Let me ask you - what AI are you playing against ? Which maps do you mostly play ? What are your start prefs and Tech level ? What
A.I. difficulty do you set ? Do you allow AI alliances ? Are you looking for more challenging and different game play ?
- regards, whipper.

I think you might find that your strategy no longer works as well in 2.2. :/

Balance changes.MortarMaster wrote:Why?? (i haven't played 2.2)
Mortar was never meant to be as powerful as it was in 2.1.

Exactly. I never said mortar was a bad weapon, just that you won't be able to win in 2.2/Rebalance if you play it the way you play it in base 2.1 balance.devastator wrote:Mortar is not just power. It's tactic weapon. If you don't believe me,i can prove you) By the way,my kick GG_IT_ now in lobby. And i'm playing 2.1.3 with rebalace.

Ok then, I'll cut to the chase in this post.
I know at least 4 Skirmish A.I.'s that would crush you if you tried those tactics (we are talking SKI and not MP, but the same will hold vs. veteran MPers)... There's no mystery here. You have found a comfortable set-up in skirmish that allows you to win playing this way.
Nothing wrong with that if your having fun.
Regards, whipper

Very right you are Whipper.
There was a time when I had more fun AFTER winning a game Vs the comp by bulding different units, bodys. weapons and so on and telling them to target each other. Good way to see what body held up Vs what weapon. AND it was a lot of fun too.
WZ2100 whould not have been around as long as it has without the fun factor.
