Warzone 2100 for DSL - N

Post by MortarMaster »

One day Win32 vitro virus invaded my computer, and I, too confident of myself, deleted its files manually, and never bothered with antivirus scan :P . But on the next reboot.....it had screwed up every exe in windows....i've tried everything to remove the virus(reinstalling windows etc..)and nothin worked :stressed: . So there's only one option left for me, formatting the whole disk. Since I don't have an extra HDD to backup all my data, i'm running my comp on DSL-N.
Just a few days ago I had started playing one player skirmish mode, and it was so F*****g addictive!!!!
Now there's no way i can bombard the enemy with my battery of a dozen ripple rockets and even more hellstorms. :scream: :scream: :scream: This is making me soo mad!!! :gonk:
So can someone please tell me how to compile warzone for DSL N or better, provide a link to download warzone installation for it.

Um, do you know how to use a command line?

Download the source code and extract it. Then open a command line to the folder where you extracted the source code, and enter:

./configure && make install

Since your a total newbie to linux, go easy on yourself and reinstall your system with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04 and go here
http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/LinuxCompileGuide

when you get to the building part
change
"svn co svn://svn.gna.org/svn/warzone/trunk/ ."
to one of the following
"svn co https://warzone2100.svn.sourceforge.net ... 100/trunk/ ." --for the newest
"svn co https://warzone2100.svn.sourceforge.net ... nches/2.2/ ." --for the beta version
"svn co https://warzone2100.svn.sourceforge.net ... hes/2.1.3/ ." --for the stable version

I'll point out that if you get Ubuntu 9.04, you might as well grab 2.1.3 from their repositories.

WZ should run, in theory. I'm guessing the main issue is going to be OpenGL support.

Installing the binary driver for your video adapter is the best option.

2nd is installing Mesa for software OpenGL.

Listen to Lav_Coyote, if you don't like DSL-N, then try Ubuntu, or Debian, Or SUSE or....
and it ends here.
