Game would not end task

hi,
i was looking forward to playing the game... but i did not open ports on my firewall, game hung, i came out and tried to end task, it said it had done so and i didnt send the report to microsoft... but game was still there in the background and in the taskbar so windows xp task manager could not end its task... i am fully patched

i logged off, then logged back in... and the windows login screen now filled the entire screen except the task bar, i was able to click on the start button and restarted my pc.... on loading windows i logged in and checked my firewall, zonealarm internet security latest version and i was not able to click on any of the item sin the left panel.. i checked a few other programs and i was able to click anywhere on them, like the options... i uninstalled your game restarted made sure the folder was deleted, only a couple text files remained anyway and this time i could click in my firewall and hopefully my pc is ok now

your using xp with no sp1 or 2 or 3 ?? there was a problem such as you describe but that only happened with windows xp original. when xp sp 1 it went away... but there were other problems ... cant remember what they were - then sp 2 came along and cured all the problems. at least so far as i know...there may be the odd one that caused some a problem .

ok here is the drill... what operating system and what hardware are you running.

we will go from your answers to that.

i have windows xp pro service pack 3 and have all the windows updates as of about 1 week ago
i'm guessing i got this problem because i did not open the ports, i will try opening them and see if i still get the problem

Windows generally has problems with ending tasks. For a quick fix, go to the "Processes" tab, select it, and hit "End Process". That generally fixes everything pretty quickly.

it is possible he needs to uninstall total. then install - see if that clears the problem.
