How easy would it be to do the following on a Mac?

Post by 3drts »

First: I am running 2.0.10 on a mac
How easy would it be to do the following, and can you point me to a tutorial thread/tell me how to do it?

1) Add the machinegun upgrades (I'm thinking its tungsten tipped MG bullets or something) from campaign into skirmish? I want a MG that can do more than 19 damage... I want them to remain useful longer, almost as long as cannons

2) Change the Assault Cannon's base damage to something closer to the medium cannon, rather than how it is now.... slightly lower than the light cannon

3) Change the "capacity" of VToL weapons (specifically, I want to increase the # of shots a VTol can fire when equipped with the various machine guns, the rail & needle gun, the flashlight laser, and *maybe* the pulse laser a little)

4) Create mini-pod and bunker buster "clones" with higher cost, base damage, and tech requirements (about the same tech level as TK rockets, or even scourge)

5) Stop it from crashing sooo much

First: Get 2.1

1) Rebalance does this, which means it will be in 2.2. To get it in 2.1, install the Rebalance Mod

2) Rebalance does this (see above)

3) That would unbalance VTOL. VTOLs are pretty balanced right now. (By the way, in "take-off", "off" isn't being used as a preposition, so "VTOL" with a capital "O" is correct.)

4) A better mini-pod... you mean like a lancer? Maybe a TK? Maybe a Scourge? Or are you looking for a fast recharge weapon - in which case see Assault Cannon, Flashlight, etc.

5) You can't really complain about stability if you're not using the latest version, you know... I've never had 2.1 crash on my Mac. (Windows, on the other hand...)

1,2) Thats nice, but how would I go about tweaking weapons stat and such myself?

3) Maybe, but I don't see whats wrong with VTOL flashlight having the same capacity as the VTOL pulse. If I recall correctly (unless this has changed), VTOL machineguns are 1 strafing run jokes.

4) Yea, the assault cannon would probably fill this role, but I'd like to see fast firing rocket pods in use at later tech levels - just as a scourge is essentially a more powerfull lancer, I want a weapon that is essentially a more powerful rocket pod.

5) I couldn't get 2.1.X to work. I'm running OSX 10.4, not 10.5, and I couldn't get that x11 pkg thing to install, but this point belongs on another forum

Will 2.1 with or without the Rebalance Mod cause the incredibly ineffective AA i've been reading about?

1,2) It's a bit harder on a Mac, but the Text Editing article in the Warzone Wiki will give you some idea of where to start.

3) True.

4) Mini-rockets are T1-only weapons; they're designed to be outdated by T2/T3 and replaced by the lancer/scourge trees. You can get them to reload pretty quickly by the end of their upgrade cycles, anyway.

5) That's weird. Look at Apple's documentation about X11. What kind of error message are you getting?

2.1 without Rebalance will have moderately ineffective AA. I think it's being exaggerated; AA seems to be working fine, for me (at least Whirlwind and the SAMs are; haven't tried the others). 2.1 with Rebalance will make all AA work perfectly (a bit too powerful, in fact; I think I should adjust those numbers a bit).

1,2,3) So its as simple as going into contents\data\mp\stats and changing the appropriate values in the .txt files?

5) See my post on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2378

1,2,3) Yep.

5) I'll leave it to other people to figure out what's wrong, then.
