How do I assign Groups....

Post by granddadof7 »

How do I use the Radar(s) to help non-direct fire.
How do I use the Radar(s) in general and assign units or fire items to them?

I got the ALT-(1/0) keys down and need more in site to using them.

I love the game and am have fun with it but want to use all the items that I can.

Please Email me direct also as I sometimes forget to check this out. ([email protected])

And no, its not my age that is holding me back. I remember using punch cards but still can design a system!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance, John ;)

Select the non-direct-fire unit
click on the radar-unit
after that you have the attack-unit assigned to the radar-unit
now, when you're selecting your radar-unit and clicking on an enemy, for attacking, the attack-unit will fire on the assigned target

:stressed:

Ok, assign the unit?

Say I want to assign a rocket unit to a radar.

What radar type to I use? What key(s) do I use to assign.

I have tried clicking on a fighter and then click on a VTOL radar and that works fine.

I click on a rocket unit and can not assign it to anything.

I also tried a motor and big gun unit and nothing.

I am sorry for such dumb questions but sure would make the game better knowing what to do.

I have gone to Many web sites and found much info but I am still at a loss with somethings.

MANY thanks in advance for your help, John :) :) :) :)

PS:
What is the best way to play on line?
Are there still web games on line?

You can only assign artillery to sensors (normal, CB, and Wide Spectrum). Mortars, etc.

The best way to play online is probably the IRC channel.

oh, yeah, sry forgot...

only indirect-fire units can be assigned to a sensor,
so mortars, howitzers, ripple rockets and so on,
and vtols ;)

when trying to assign a directfire unit (machinegun, cannon, laser) to a sensorunit, it will only guard the sensor

general
to assign a unit to a group, use strg+number (i think numpad won't work)
so "strg+1" for group 1 and so on
selecting the group, just press the number ... "1" in our example

ingame:
selecting some howitzerunits, assign them to a sensorunit
after this the howitzers are automatically deselected and the sensorunit selected
assign the sensor to group ... 5
so you can easily select the senso, assign a target and whatch the howitzers attack the target the sensor is looking at

tip:
whan you're using a wide spectrum sensor array, you do not even have to move the sensor, so it stays outside the main battle ;)

Ok and thanks for ALL of the feedback.

I will keep trying. What is the "strg" key? Is "strg" string? O_o

Maybe I am being dumb but I am a visual person if you know what I mean.

You tell me the key steps and I can go from there.

Again, many thanks to all of you for holding my hand(s)...... :)

Have a great day, John

Many thanks to you all. I am learning and making a "report" of my findings what I will TRY to put up on the net for other NEW users from
the view point of an OLD nuebe on WZ.

You have been wonderful and very understanding and I thank you very much.

God Bless and game on, John
