Non "Pie slicer friendly" pie files

Post by Mysteryem »

All of the pie files in warzone.wz and mp.wz always crash pie slicer when trying to load them, this can be fixed by opening them up (I use wordpad) and saving them again. In previous version the text was all in bold and when you removed the bold it worked. Now, in these newer versions, there is no bold text, but if you select the text and click the bold button it appears to "de-bold" something. This becomes a hassle if you want to search through the files to find a specific one, but do not know it's name. Is there a way to fix this?

Not much point making a new thread so:
Another question, does pie toaster have the same problem and does it use .png textures for its rendering? (Not .pcx/.bmp)

Is the line wrap wrong maybe? Unix and DOS derivates use different line wrapping symbols. I would think that the Windows builds used DOS line endings, but if they don't, it might explain your problem.

Ah, yes, that would appear to be correct, I just opened them up with notepad and it had the boxes where the line wrap should be. I stopped using notepad for txt editing because of this problem.

Try to use a text editor that can mess with line endings - pretty much every plaintext editor except Notepad can do this (I'd recommend Notepad2).

And remember, this text isn't formatted - bolding and unbolding text shouldn't do anything (unless you save it in a rich text format, in which case it wouldn't be a valid PIE file).

Thanks for that, it looks very useful.

I think Pie Slicer also wants the textures in pcx format, so that is another issue.
and it ends here.
