Disciple 2: Steam

Post by themousemaster »

So after (or during, take your pick) that long discussion in the other thread, I went looking for games that might resemble Lords of Magic, just cause I miss that type of gameplay.

I found one called Disciples II. It apparently has 3 expansion packs to it already. And it has something called "Disciples II: Gold" which includes everything.

It is available for purchase over Steam.

Here's the thing: when I click on the "Disciples II: Gold" link on Steam, and it shows me what is included, it says "Disciples II: Galleans Return" and "Disciples II: Rise of the Elves", which are all 3 of the expansions (Galleans is the first 2). But all of the expansions are standalone games.

I don't want to purchase this over Steam if I am going to get the expansions, but not the original game itself (sorta destroys the storyline if you jump in 1/2way).

Does anyone here own Disciples II, or have knowledge of it from Steam, to know if I buy the pack, I will end up getting the original along with the expansions?

(I tried registering to the Steam forums for this question, but apparently they won't let me use the "Add new thread" option until my account is added by an administrator... wtf is the theory behind that idea anyway :( )

i don't really want to advertise, but you can get Disciples II, and all expansion packs from Good old Games for a decent price, you get an installer with it, so it isn't restricted as Steam, you can also use PayPal as well, its pretty good :3

but in case you do want to buy it from Steam, Disciples 2 Gold will give you the game itself, as well as all expansions.

Thanks. I'll probably do the Steam thing... the whole package is $10 total, and I'm not worried about the installer. If it were more, I'd take a look at the link you provided.

Welp, I'm here to tell you that, in fact, is not true.

I got the package from steam, and the original campaigns are NOT present. :(

apparently, I can't delete the above post anymore.

I was wrong. I mis-interpretted the mission select screen; yes, the original campaign is available. I can't make some negative comments about the saga select screen being so un-intuitive as for it to not be obvious, but that's hardly a game-breaking complaint.

In other news, aside from a few choices of words throughout the game, I am enjoying it. A bit slow-paced (even for a Turn-Based game), but I got time.
