2.1 crashes (in XP)
Hello.
Before I had played 2.0.6 I think, and that worked. I downloaded the new version (stable 2.1) today, installed (with all the options on, including music and the mods) and tried to run. The game crashed when I had set up a skirmish game and pressed the "ready" button. It loads a few seconds and then crashes. The error message was:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I tried with two different resolutions, and it didn't work on either. I tried with instructions here
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=394
but it didn't work any better. I also tried searching the forum, but didn't find anything useful.
System specs:
Win XP service pack 3
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB DDR RAM
NVidia GeForce 6600
What could cause this? If you need any error log files or something like that, just point me to them and I'll find them and post here.

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
Get the debug version and file a bug report
not just OS and Hardware but which flags you used, the game settings your using and the steps and ... the name of the map it crashed on
the " --cheat" flag is super buggy so try not to use it when your retesting for the bug you ran in to.
ie : "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe --debug all --debugfile c:\wzdebug.txt --mod ntw"
http://download.gna.org/warzone/release ... -debug.exe

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
I have sent a bug report to the system, with all the information I could think of.
This time, with the debug version, the error message was:
Assertion failed!
Program: C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe
File: script_parser.y
Line: 5839
Expression: 0

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
I'm not a developer or anything but last 4 lines in the debug file should help out the developers of this project.
Was there a warzone2100.gdmp.... file in temp right after the crash?
Code: Select all
error : [scr_error] script parse error :
Type mismatch for paramter 0 at player0.slo:113
Token: 41, Text: ')'
error : [scr_error] Assert in Warzone: script_parser.y:5839 (false), last script event: '<none>'

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
There were lots of files in minidump, but none of them seemed to be related to Warzone in any way, and the newest file was last modified many months ago.gerard_ wrote:I have never used these but could you try lookin in %windir%\minidumps?

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
perhaps there is a warzone2100.rpt file laying around in your warzone directory, that should be the crashdump

Re: 2.1 crashes (in XP)
I found it, but this seems to be a file from my old 2.1 install. Seemingly I forgot to remove the old directory and installed debug version on top of the already existing directory...NewTiberian wrote:perhaps there is a warzone2100.rpt file laying around in your warzone directory, that should be the crashdump
Anyway, the file is pretty short:

I reinstalled in a different folder, and guess what? Now it works. I'll propably install the non-debug version and try if it worked.
