Combining All Current Mods and Maps for next update

Post by manaze »

Ive been looking in the showcase thread a lot lately. I keep seeing little additions everyone is making, such as gates, and new Gfx sounds along with maps and other simple additions.

Instead of these projects being lost and forgot about, why not make a compact mod of all these small additions, and base it off of the NTW mod, which seams to be well on its way to being the best mod ever made for wz.

I also noticed some new structers being created here and there, why arent we adding these to a finish product of some type?

Just a thought.

Elio's structures are in trunk somewhere; they're simply not used by default.

Gates are going to be implemented natively, so a mod won't be needed.

NTW is in trunk, too. (data/mods/multiplay/ntw/)

I'd agree that it'd be nice if all the mods could be available in a single place.

i like the mods they all make here , also models for some buildings etc... its all fine , only thing that i personaly want to make warzone the best game is more co-op maps , challenging ai's , (stronger ai's) and last , balanced weapons , and/or new super weapons :3

-co-op map, 2v6 maps are enough for me :3
-stronger ai: the ai need to build more! and faster , they'r snails i say xD and also use strategy to beat a player
- laser satelite isn't strong , i fired on a factory and i killed just one truck standing beside it....
-new super weapons: like u can see in difrent games , have-slow-huge damage weapons , Nuke , Weather control? ^^ , Guass snow? =3 just some ideas

no, the structures are not converted / spiced up for ingame use. but it could be done by "just" exporting them to pie (minor hand tweaking included)

i'd suggest a webpage with a member area for modders, where they can upload several versions for several versions of warzone. comments can be made (with forum account perhaps?) and other nice things such as screenshots and something like a blog assigned to mod-versions, so they can update their progress and describe the mod
ok, it's only an idea, i guess certain features won't be needed anyway

The problem with combining all mods is that we don't know how stable they are.
We do have the NTW mod, but unless we see feedback on the others, we have no idea how good, or if people like them, or if they conflict, or..or...

For maps, that is a bit easier, but, we still need for people to test the new maps, and then say which ones are good enough to be included.

Of course, the best way to handle both of these is to have a dedicated web page where people can vote on these things, and leave feedback.
and it ends here.

I noticed the NTW mod has Aivolution added to it.

I think NTW should be the base for expanding mods from starting from more biuldings, then moving on to maps and additional playing types, such as co-op.

Elio has new biuldings made, why dont we use them?

While NTW is a good mod, I don't think it should be the base for expanding things. The graphics are a bit too flashy for general appeal, and the balancing is, shall we say, not particularly nuanced. It's a great mod for many people, but it's just... not for everyone.

Yeah, the 2.1 basic AI talks, too. Not as much as Aiv, though. Aiv trash talks; it's pretty funny.

well, how should we go about compiling finalized versions into a single updated version of warzone?

That, and, I've never gotten NTW to work in trunk. It asserts "string" at line 100 of strres.c and crashes.
