Bug 9231 Map Edge Workaround (2.0.10)?

I'm experiencing Bug 9231 (https://gna.org/bugs/?9231) using the universal binary on an intel mac with os x 10.4. This occurs in one player skirmish; I've run into the problem on both Sk-YinYang-T1 and Sk-Concrete; no starting bases with medium power levels. This occurs at maybe half an hour to an hour into play, about when I'd expect the AI bases to expand to the map edge. The assertion triggers earlier on Concrete, which seems explicable, since Concrete has several starting points nearer the map edge (e.g. Green, Red).

Since the bug is known, I'll leave my confirmation at that. This has been a show-stopper for me so far, so I'm wondering if either the bug has been fixed in 2.1, or if there are known workarounds (known safe maps, safe parameter settings, AI mods that improve building placement)?

I have not seen this bug on 2.1. We are not fixing any further bugs for 2.0 now, so closing the bug report.
