newb questions as of yesterday

Post by kdkentuc »

hi.here's the story.
ok, after a week of playing crimson fields (strategy game) i get a withdrawl pain from wz. i haven't played it in years.
(i used to play on mplayer on my pentium2.)

so i decide to look up warzone2100 & newst in google & Resurrection comes up!?!!

can anyone answer some questions?

--------------------------------------
* is the new wz download compatible with the retail-version from 7-8 years ago?
* to be more specific, can new wz play.online with someone with old wz?
* are there dedicated online playing sites still for old wz?
*  `"  '        '                '    '          '  for new wz?
* the old demo was about 15MB and the retail set was 2 CD-roms.; the new download is about 15MB.  is there more stuff that needs to be downloaded.?
* naming: is warzone2100 the same as totalwarzone or warzone2200?

i'm very surpised (& happy) that warzone is making a come-back.  i've logged countless hours into this addictive game & with any luck i will get to do more.  ;D

This WZ2100 is an open source project. It is free to download and include everything that the orginal did, *APART* from the videos and music (Thats why file size is so small) there are ways to get the original videos and music to play on this OS version but there are other threads for that.

You can only play people with the same version of WZ2100, This means that you cant play with some one that has a retail copy and the other person has the Beta version.

But since it's totally free, your friend can download and install the version from this site.  Just make sure you're both using the same version - stable vs. beta.
