Why my style of posting......

* Peeps ask WHY from  time to time & most recently Vespasian on IRC..... so here is what I wrote about it a while back.

* For those who have asked about my style of posting with the "*s".

* A habit I picked-up a few years back from wiki syntax. It's my way of reminding myself to be concise. Each "*" representing, more or less, a "thought chunk".

* Those who know me from way back in the day can attest to my earlier, infamous, "long-winded" posting style which drove many to distraction. I hope my effort to change that around has been effective.

* When the 2200 site opens you'll notice the occassions I donot use "*s" and that is in all the...

* WZ 2200 Sci Fi Mythos Stories connected to the New Campaign and my scripts for the New Mission Cinematics (werein I use a modified movie screenplay formating....)

Meh, finally you told us why you post like that  . I think that's a good way of posting, because it helps the reader by letting him selecting which points he would like to read and which arent needed.  And it is kinda good-looking, and obviously very original.

I like it too. It does look somewhat strange the first time you see it, but it takes less time to read than full sentences.

* Thank you sir.... it's mighty kind of you to say & sincerely appreciate it.

* Back in my "apprentice years" I turned  for guidance to many sources including a bizillion How-To manuals on writing well.

* Like anything else, 90% were pure crap and couldn't help you write your way out of a paper bag to save your life. (BTW - that "90%" bit is called "Sturgeon's Law" after one of the great 20th Century SciFi authors who coined it.)

* However within that 10% you'll find pure gold.

* If you could only read one book in your lifetime on how to write effective prose I would put my money on -

* "Write Tight: How To Keep Your Prose Sharp, Focused & Concise" by William Brohaugh.

* It's an absolute gem & indispensable if you have to write for school or work.

* Check it out at your local library, you'll never regret the time spent with it.
