The idea behind the divider barrier row(s) of Cannon Fortresses is to prevent early rush in online multi-player games or turtle hunting for oil in skirmish games against dumb "S" single minded AIs...
I kinda like to play the game to at least Tank Killer or Scourge Missile and Assault / Heavy Cannon or even Gauss Cannon, all on either Tiger or Vengeance bodies.
It kinda sucks to just end it at Mini Rocket Pods, Flamers and Heavy MG on Viper or Cobra bodies...
So... as it usually takes at least a double row of mortars/bombards or howitzers to defeat the Cannon Fortress barrier, that gives players enough time to research to more advance weapons and bodies...
Another thing... In my opinion, this game is supposed to be a pure tank on tank battle, so whenever I have a choice I disable V-TOLs and Cyborgs. Very rarely I even choose to play a no artillery game too.
