I'd like to test some adjustments to the Semperfi AI but don't want to change the original files in [exedir]/mp.wz in the multiplay/skirmish/ dir. Is there a way I can override the Semperfi AI by putting new text files into a directory somewhere?
Or do I have to copy Semperfi to a new AI with a new name? If so, where do I put the new AI files?
Thanks.
Can I override an AI with the same name with a text file?

I think the best way is just to copy the files, and give the AI a new name. As long as it resides in that directory, it will be picked up by the game.

Make a mod and load it.
That's what mods are for.
You should never alter base.wz and mp.wz.
