Game Saving

Hello, I am new to warzone 2100 and looking for what may be a simple answer..
I played campaign mode for hours and done pretty good but it came to a point where i was just sleepy. I then looked for a way to save my game and with no luck i had to just close it..

So my question is how do i save my games i play on campaign?

Try pressing Esc and a menu should come up for saving.

I go to the menu option but see nothing about saving..
