Howdy
I have managed to connect the music using the playlist file and associated OGG music files. However, they playback like noise (can't even hear the original sounds) in the latest build of WarZone (2.08_rc1c). My other sounds playback fine.
I am running the Mac Version (OSX 10.4).
Any thoughts?
Cheers!

Re: Music is Noise (Distorted Mess)
Hi. Does 2.0.7 work with the same playlists? How about mp3 files as opposed to vorbis?

Re: Music is Noise (Distorted Mess)
Thanks for the reply
Just tried 2.07 and MP3s with both 2.07 and 2.08rc1 and still the same issue.
I should note that I am using 10.4.8 and the default sound card on a PowerBook 17' (1.33 mhz, 1gb).
I read a post here - index.php?topic=170.0 - DevUrandom suggested you could change the OpenAL sound settings in Linux to deal with "similar" isssues. Any idea how I might change these settings? or any other thoughts?
To me its weird how the other sounds work fine but the music distorts to noise, even with the music volume set low.
Cheers

Re: Music is Noise (Distorted Mess)
When I had openAL issues in Ubuntu, I had to make this change. I don't know if you can do the same on a mac, but it may help.
In my .openalrc file, I changed it to read:
(define devices '(native))
Then I didn't have any more sound issues.

Unfortunately no such file for OSX. And it is unclear how to change the OpenAL settings specifically for OSX.
Strangely openAL works fine for the other sounds, just not music.
Does anyone know of any specific music settings that can be changed outside of the game environment, perhaps in the application folder or bundle?

Re: Music is Noise (Distorted Mess)
I guess this is a problem of the decoder, endian issues or something. If the other sounds play fine, I don't think OpenAL does something wrong. If you could try an OGG file, that'd help to locate the problem.

Re: Music is Noise (Distorted Mess)
Yer, did try both OGG and MP3 files - same issues on different game versions. My feeling is that the music channel must be set to a very high volume internally within the game, then distorting and then outputting that distortion at a level the general system can reduce - like compressed distortion - or at least that is what my experience with audio technology tells me.
Attached are an OGG of the sound and JPEG of the waveform.

Unfortunately sound is broken for me in 2.0, so I can't even test if it works correctly on Linux... someone else please?
