warzone has a big problem with how it is doing map transfers and showing maps
if the game does not think the map is the same then it downloads it with a really long file name
then when it comes time to select a map when you want to play you can have lots of duplicate named maps multiple times!
so how do people know which is the original map?
looking in the maps directory you will see map name then a big long string of characters after the name
this makes the game show the same map over and over and uses up all the map slots!
too many maps

Re: too many maps
It's not a problem, it's a feature people have been asking for for ages: to support different maps with the same name.
If the names are different, then the maps are actually different, for the "big long string of characters" is their hash checksum: either different maps, or mods packed inside them, but you seriously want to know it in any case.

why do people use the same map name if it is modified?NoQ wrote:It's not a problem, it's a feature people have been asking for for ages: to support different maps with the same name.

No idea. I'm not the one who does that.Originway wrote:why do people use the same map name if it is modified?
Probably make the game add a "this map is the one you want to play" caption to one of the maps?Originway wrote:you can't sort by date in the picker thing can you?

Re: too many maps
I assume the game uses md5 checksums or something to identify which maps are the same map. I still have problems with having quite a few duplicate maps in my folder. These maps have identical layouts and names, but apparently different checksums. Any idea of what might be causing this?

Re: too many maps
I wonder if, with the viral nature of maps, this is where someone has been editing a map and not really done much and then forgot about it and then loaded it in a MP game thus "infecting" (for want of a better word) others with what is essentially the same map but with some kind of little changes. For the checksum to be different something has to have changed in regards to whatever the checksum analyses to generate it's hash.Jorzi wrote:I assume the game uses md5 checksums or something to identify which maps are the same map.
