Do units automatically get upgraded bullets?

OS: Win xp
Game: 3.1rc3

If I have a vehicle with machine guns, and I research a new bullet type, does that vehicle get the new bullets automatically? Same question applies to mortar (vehicles and emplacements).

When you research upgrades, the upgrades are automatically applied to anything they will improve.

For example, if you have machine gun viper wheels, you can see a list of what research improves that tank here: http://guide.wz2100.net/u/machinegun-viper-wheels

If you then researched twin machine gun, that's a new turret and turrets themselves don't get automatically upgraded (so your mg vipers will still be mg vipers even though you just researched twin mg).
