Warzone2100 failing to run on Linux Mint

Post by C27 »

coyote27@Hakurei ~/Games/Warzone 2100/warzone2100-3.1_rc3 $ warzone2100
X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (X_GLXVendorPrivate)
Serial number of failed request: 25
Current serial number in output stream: 26
Warzone2100 (3.1rc3) will no longer run on my system, which is strange, because it worked fine a few days ago. Apparently something is wrong with GLX but I can't figure out what it could be. Any ideas?

Nevermind, it's not a wz2100 problem. OpenGL itself got wrecked somehow, and I can't figure out what did it or how to fix it. Time for a reformat and fresh OS install, I guess.

Try to figure out what's wrong, it's not fun to reinstall OS after each update or something like that. Shouldn't be too hard. Show /var/log/Xorg.0.log, anything in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, lspci, lsmod ...

I think the latest OpenGL library updates aren't compatible with my video card driver. I can't see any easy way to roll them back, so I may have to backup and reinstall the OS, and just be careful to not update any graphics libraries.

It would be nice if there was an updated driver in the pipes, but as old as my machine is I highly doubt it.

My next computer will dualboot Mint and Windows so I'll be able to play a lot more games anyway!
