Hello, I have been playing Warzone 2100 since I got the demo on a PSX demo disc way back in the day, once in awhile I come back to revisit it although I've never gotten very good at the game I still love to play MP with people whenever I get the change which sadly isnt that often.
I've done some 3d modelling and mod work in the past although nothing for this game. I'm interested in making some higher res but still not super detailed replacement propulsion an body models for the game, and perhaps the weapons too. I'm not very good at super high poly models but something on the RTS level should be perfect for me. I'd like to make them a bit more defined and maybe make a few changes here and there, I am not very good at drawing up textures though so I'd probably re-use the original textures although I might try my hand at it.
My questions are:
Is there already a complete mod like this and would I be wasting my time, or a semi-complete mod I could help on.
How complicated is setting up a 3d model for this game? Is there a lot of named selections/memory points/etc?
Thank you for any help.

Theres a graphics fork (i think) as well as an art mod. Most of the format information can be found in the dev wiki.

Low-poly modeling is usually a greater challenge.I'm not very good at super high poly models but something on the RTS level should be perfect for me.
One thing you are going to run into is the WZ graphics engine simply does not do hi-poly stuff.

We've been remaking models for quite some time, so try it and let us know if you're interested.
I must say, though, risking to sound elitistic, that we try to keep the quality as high as possible.
We also use a hipoly to lowpoly workflow, which means that while the exported models will be lowpoly, we usually start with a very detailed model.
That said, we are happy for any contributions
