pick something old - and make an updated version or make the next version in line... however you want.

I know one guy has been using blender. I've been trying to learn it but I can't find a decent vehicle tutorial :( Everything seems so overwhelmingly complicated...

Lies. There are no good computers that cost more than $1000, unless it's a laptop, in which case there are no good computers that cost more than $2000. If it's more expensive, you're getting ripped off.

Nah i'm paying for the extra hardrive and ram slots, and the processors. It's got like 6 gigs of ddr3 ram, and two video cards with 500 megs of dedicated ram.
On a side note anyone know where i can download the blender tutorials? i can only go online from 3-5pm (cyber sitter)... :stare:

2GB stick of DDR3 RAM are worth $33.
Your average video card with 512MB VRAM is worth around $90 each.

So that's, what, $280 right there?

Add a mobo for $100, an i7 for $300, a case for $100, a PSU for $100, and that's, what, $880?

And you don't think $3000 is overpriced for this? o_O

True, the price of hardware has been dropping, but better to buy a machine that meets your needs than purchase a suck-ass on-board video chipset that will only bring you grief and forum-whining. You get what you pay for.

i've mixed some componentes and get a high-end pc for 2000 EUR (don't know the course for USD)
Asus P6T, Intel i7-950, 12 GB RAM, Cooler Master Cosmos Case, Tagan T780 PSU, 2x Palit 2GB GTX285, 3x 1TB WD-HDD

but don't know how to get the 3000 ... ^^ or perhaps it still is 3000 USD ? O_o

Yeah, 2000 euros is around 2900 USD.

Then again, 12 GB of RAM and two dedi 2GB video cards is a lot higher specced than what hawkn was talking about, and Europe's electronics are significantly more expensive than US electronics anyway. In the US, any desktop costing more than $1000 simply isn't worth its price.

um, wow, I don't think I would ever need that much stuff in a computer... Mind you back in the day, people though a gig would be all they ever needed...

Cheers,

it's not ment as a "must have". i only tried to show, what a machine you'll be able to get for 3000 USD.
hawkn wants to get a machine with less than i've mixed up, so he'll never need so much money for his machine ;)
