Hmmm.... looks like we posted simultaneously so I'll speak to your very last post first in this edit..
EDIT:
Firechkn34 wrote:ok well i set up the directories and i still get an (error reading PCX) when i try to do a new map!?!?!?!?!? what is the problem now?
Are you sure (as per my own posted export text above) your "value 0 - Project" directory in
Reg Edit is NOT pointing to the "SAMPLES" folder instead of the 32EWc .Executable folder itself???
------------------------------------------------->
Now to my original text........
@ Firechkn34 : Did you follow the last post I made ? Frustrating, I know, but this is probably the last hurdle to just having fun with the editor.
It may very well complete the journey we started-on a few days ago in that other thread:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2840&p=32759#p32759
------------------------------------------------->
I will now elaborate a little more on my "Hmmm".....
The 32EW docs/manual covers much ground quite well but we've come upon a few key gaps, it seems, like mentioning the
essential need for a resident C++ Redistributable Runtime for 32EW to even run, in addition to the original "editworld32" executable HAVING to be upgraded to the current "editworld32
c" executable ...... and then there is this following line, as critical as this step is, I think could benefit all newbies to 32EW by having an illustrative graphic of the procedure like the one I posted:
When you first open EW32, click on the right-most tool bar button. This will bring up a dialog that allows you set the directories for EW32 elements. The only one you need to amend is that for PROJECT. Do this by selecting the root installation folder (that is, rather than the SAMPLES folder).
Here I'll reprise the graphic to be sure the point is made on this latest turn::
You all are probably thinking:
"Well, whip, why don't YOU go ahead and make the changes to the 32EW wiki manual page ?"
I could but I've already committed to making changes to the wiki's Text Editing Mods page (which I've already begun) and frankly I have to draw the line somewhere. However, I'm open to trading off those tasks.
Lastly, as I noted earlier on this page, the
INVALID link in this thread ----
http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/EditWorld32beta .... well it has has been changed to the following CORRECT link (and there is NO re-direct from the old link) :
http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/EditWorld32Manual
