LAN problem with 2.07

Post by Redemptor »

Hi all,

(sorry for my poor english)

First, congratulations to the WZ Resurrection team, it really is great to see that WZ2100 still exists.
(great games never die ;))

I.. I have problems with the lobby thing. It doesn't work at all, as well as the IP part.
I first noticed that it didn't displayed any games (at all) but I thought it was only because of the lack of people playing on the internet but when I tried to play on LAN I simply didn't managed to make it work
I've tried with blank IP, with all the IPs I could find, none did work.

I have two computers, one with winxp sp2 and the other one with Ubuntu 7.10  :D
The game is 2.07 on both (cause the debian package I downloaded was 2.07 and not 2.08 so I reinstalled 2.07 on windows)
I don't understand why it doesn't work, I've tried many things (setting the firewall off, hosting on one pc, then on the other, try to unblock wz but it already was)
other MP games work great

RTS that work on both Linux and windoz are quite few, it would really be cool if I could solve this.

Thanks for reading this

The netcode of warzone is old and quite a few people can't host a game but only join.
For others both don't work.

Normally a new netcode will be made with warzone 2.1
Otherwise you can check our wiki for network problems with wz and maybe there you will find a solution to make it work.

Thanks a lot for answering my post

It seems that it's the problem I have.
In fact, I can join, I've tried another couple of times to create a LAN game, I couldn't join the one I created but there were people hosting another game on the internet (this was the first time I saw people on that lobby, it's funny  ;) [woa people really do play this game, that's incredible]  :o)
Normally a new netcode will be made with warzone 2.1
That would be really great. It really is nice that you keep improving the game.
Otherwise you can check our wiki for network problems with wz and maybe there you will find a solution to make it work.
I read some of the pages related to network problems but I couldn't find a way to solve mine. I'll keep trying things. Computers are that way, I'll be patient :D

Happy warzoning to all of you
And thank you again for keeping it alive

Hi im having a problem with 2.0.8, tho its the same problem i have with the 2.0.7 releases.
lan multiplayer using 2 computers (any combination of 4 different machines i have quick access to)
regardless of which computer hosts the game, the joining computer crashes after about 20 mins, happens everytime without fail. never been able to complete a lan multiplayer.

things that are different: all computers use a mix of xp home/xp pro, graphics sound e.t.c dual core, amd 64 different memory types e.t.c so i doubt its any specific compatibility issue.

things that are the same: all my machines use 2 speaker onboard sound, all use F secure internet security OEM, all connect via cat5e 100Mb cables to a shared router(even tho some of my machines have gigabit ports i dont use them, only 100Mb router so whats the point.
Version: master-20110320 QT
VGA:Nvidia GeForce GT 220
Driver in use: 6.14.12.6658
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4200+
RAM: 2 x DDR-II 1GB corsair
OS: WinXP sp3

You can report the bug with the .mdmp file attached to it and the devs will look into it and repair what's broken.
