Try HOMING-INDIRECT, it should be usable in 3.1. I think ERRATIC-DIRECT is currently exactly the same as DIRECT, so you could just change those to HOMING-DIRECT.

Thanks Cyp. I guess I can make those Archangels and Seraph home in on targets now, :D though don't ERRATIC-DIRECT weapons fly at a parabolic arc like indirect weapons (only that the round starts at the very peak of the arc), even though they're functionally similar to DIRECT weapons? :? (If there's no such thing as a HOMING-ERRATIC-DIRECT weapon yet, then oh well. I can still make smart bombs without having to use that movement variable.)

No, ERRATIC-DIRECT goes in a straight line, according to src/projectile.cpp.

If I understand correctly, the homing ability of HOMING-INDIRECT is in part controlled by research such as R-Wpn-Missile-Accuracy02 (Search & Destroy Missiles)?

research like "Wpn-Missile-Accuracy02 (Search & Destroy Missiles)" just increases accuracy and nothing more
HOMING-INDIRECT ability is just property of weapon and cannot be changed by research

I don't recall missiles ever homing until I've researched "search & destroy missiles" though?

you should take look at weapons.txt
see table below, property "movement = HOMING-DIRECT" is independent on upgrades

That may be the case, but from what I've seen my missiles don't properly home in on targets until I've researched "Search & Destroy Missiles". Maybe it's just a visual effect and in the code they always home in on targets regardless of research?

i dont know, but accuracy code in 3.1 works improperly
so if you make some documented tests with rockets accuracy it can be helpful for discovering issues

I've got lots of other tasks to do at the moment so unlikely that I'll be able to dig in to that too much.

BTW, that tool you're using to view stats would be worth adding to this topic: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9003

Lasers are also homing. Did you see them home on targets? (:

They home on the target when the accuracy dice hitted. The accuracy increase with the Search & Destroy Missiles. So they "home" more often... that's the visual part of it.

I'd love to see how a concentrated beam of light photos can change direction in mid air without the aid of some very hefty magnets or gravity distortion...

It is clear to me that the that the photons in warzone are less wave-particle dualistic and more particle-like. They are also severely slowed down (maybe the air in warzone has an extremely high refraction index?)
