Game wont start in VirtualBox

Post by kubaf »

I have Windows 7Pro host vith Virtualbox 4.1.8 with Ubuntu 10.10 all 64bit, hardware virtualization enabled and VBox guest additions installed.
When i try to start Warzone (have ver 2.3.8-1) in the virtual Ubuntu it shows the loading screen then quits on an error to terminal:

AL lib: pulseaudio.c:331: PulseAudio returned minreq > tlength/2; expect break up
Saved dump file to '/tmp/warzone2100.gdmp-wygB0h'
If you create a bugreport regarding this crash, please include this file.
Segmentation fault

Should i fill in a bug report?

Do you have OpenGL video driver support in your VM?

At first glance this bug looks like audio related, although I've got such things and game was running fine anyway.
You can check if it is OpenGL enabled by using glxinfo | grep OpenGL, post output here.
You my need to install guest additions on virtual machine (should be available in repository, although probably should be auto selected for installation).

Don't bother about pulseaudio warnings, i have some too even without having pulseaudio installed ;)

kubaf: this "/tmp/warzone2100.gdmp-wygB0h" file you mentioned is to be posted here; it contains a lot of useful info about the crash :)

Thank you for the responses.
While writing this post I was able to run the game without errors, after disabling 3D acceleration (was totally slow ofc).
I even started a skirmish, and it worked.. And it was sending that pulseaudio warning as well while working normally.
So i guess the problem is in the 3D acceleration, probably between VirtualBox and my graphic card. Any help on that?

Is maybe anyone running Warzone in VirtualBox on Radeon HD 6490M (1GB VRAM)? Its a "switchable graphic card", maybe thats the reason for the bugs? Or is it unable to do 3D acceleration at all?

PS as the Unity bugs sometimes on its own, i should probably go bother Virtualbox forums right? :)

Adding the requested information, probably not useful now :) :

Guest additions and OpenGL - i wrote i had additions installed, for the OpenGL i ran the command Emdek posted, heres the output:

Code: Select all

OpenGL vendor string: Humper
OpenGL renderer string: Chromium
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Chromium 1.9
OpenGL shading language version string: 4.10
OpenGL extensions:
so i guess the OpenGL is installed.

Adding the dump file (~17KB):

The crashdump says it is crashing in the virtualbox opengl driver. Report it to them.

Just curious: what is the reason for running this game in VirtualBox?

no for some information only in case in the future someone use it and ask since it's a virtual machine that included in win 8 and server 2012
