When I was playing WZ2100, I wanted to try to play a round with only some technologies and nothing else, but unfortunately that cannot happen because there's that beautiful technology tree in the way, so there comes an idea:
- What about adding a new button in cheatin' panel called "Technologies"? How would it work:
1. You press the button called "Technologies".
2. You search for whatever technology you need right now.
3. You select the technology.
4. Now you've got the technology!
And it would NOT follow the regular technology tree, lets say it all technologies given from technology list in cheatin' panel would be standalone.
What do you think about that? I am pretty sure some of you wanted to play a round with only using for example, only The Project bodies and rail weaponry.

Re: New Cheatin' Option
I can say again in this topic that such things should be possible using scripting (we need API to manipulate GUI and fully control game).

Re: New Cheatin' Option
Oh dear God..
Are you losing or something??.. all the time?? too difficult a game?? I couldn believe when I saw the title but in fact it is true..
I know it is great to have everything at the very beginning, but what to play then?? this game is about managing time and knowledge to use your technology against others..
If it is hard for you to get a technology try so many times till you improce..
What is more if such option was possible hundrend of thousands of so called players.. would use it in multiplayer and we do know that, and those who cheat and read it know about that too.
I think it is bad idea, as far as i know it couldnt be able to be possible only in skirmish then it is dangerous for all multiplay games.
Soon there should be button to press, and game playes alone and you watch how you, I mean it plays..

DURR! I can and I am NOT losing in the game, but sometimes I like to have big variety of technologies to choose from to make better or original units. Also, I don't think that this is even possible to cheat using the cheatin' panel, so your point is invalid.

Re: New Cheatin' Option
As much as I don't support cheating, I'm just going to say that I doubt that programming in cheating like this isn't going to be easy due to how complicated it would be to program in the ability for players to manually adjust values during the game. Heck, I think that simply making a mod with the desired changes would be easier.

Re: New Cheatin' Option
If AIs get the ability to communicate with human players via in-game chat, then it would be trivial to write an AI "cheat bot" where you could tell it what tech you want and it will give it to you.
That being said, if you just want to play around with different checks, why not just use the "give all" command in cheat mode? The you get all techs and can try whatever you want.
I find the cheats really useful whilst working on scripts. And I love messing around with that crazy super weapon that's like a gauss cannon fortress turret but attached to any droid.
But in terms of actually learning the game, cheating won't help because some technologies only make sense during the game when you're competing with research against an enemy. If you cheat them in to existence, you won't realise how useful they are at the normal stage of the game (I'm speaking form personal experience here)
If you just want to start with more tech at the beginning of games, start at T3 = Tech level 3 (on map selection screen IIRC) rather than the default T0.

Re: New Cheatin' Option
The problem with "give all" cheat is that it gives you all weapons, but there's not enough space to show them up.
