The power should be checked before the game has actually loaded, not after it has started and the player has received some barrels (even if he happens to "luckily" land right on them), logically speaking. But if that can't be practically done, then there's no point in auto-kicking for power cheats (yes, I said power cheats and not speed hacks).

For now, i just made a 5 minutes change in the source code. Coding a full cheater detector, with max arrays and triggers everywhere would be a lot more work. Why would you want to fix a version that is without any new features and not really worth playing since 3.1 Beta 1? To be honest, i understand why the developers think that it's a waste of time and resources to continue supporting 2.3.x . 3.1 needs a lot of loving right now, and it'll get it only when there are people who have enough time on their hands to work on it.

I think you dont get it, the power cheaters usually increase their power during the game, not only at start.
Heretic 2.3 improver and proud of it.

I suspected that, but I couldn't say for sure, as I haven't tried the cheat engine, or ever plan to. As I said before,

Auto-kick at game start only is worth exploring.


Frankly, your time is best spent if you are going to design a server-client model , rather than the peer-to-peer networking model that we have in place now. And there are people much more knowledgeable than me to explain more-in-depth on this matter. Cheat policing isn't going to be very useful in the long run. The game shouldn't be modified just to try and cheat the cheat engine, it should be modified to not leave out any chance for cheat engine to see any possible exploits.

it was a ntw map with some bullshit mod in it had new structures and other things in it. on the lobby screen it said mod:none! which is a lie!

zany, those "mods" are not source modifications, but they modify rules, visuals etc.

Sounds like my NRS+ mod then. And yes there is a command relay that eventually give the reading of power without any cheat.

They were not cheating because they payed for that function in the game. As i was saying earlier.
