why are there no mods monitoring the games that are being host? friend of mine came over yesterday and he saw a game called [REMOVED] and he wasn't happy at all. why is that allowed?

It is not allowed, but we cannot possibly monitor the games that are made all the time.

There is a filter but also there is many variations adding entries to the banned names and part names is often a long road

Adding more and more ban words to a filter also leads to problems - I've seen some sites where almost everything gets banned, even perfectly valid names, because the filter list contains so much stuff. It's always a tricky problem to solve.

Possibly the only long term solution would be to have some sort of "report" feature and if enough people click it the offending person/game gets kicked and IP address blacklisted? Would take a fair bit of coding though, as I imagine the feature would need to be available from the MP game set-up screen.

Please report all abuses to the Staff account on the forums.
The fastest way would be on IRC though, come to one of our channels and report it there.
(#warzone2100 or #warzone2100-dev or #warzone2100-games) There is usually a dev poking around in one of those channels.

It's always hard to stop the idiots from being idiots..
Anyway, as Aubergine said, too restrictive filters have their problems. I remember chatting in swedish in my private game in C&C 3 and it automatically filtered out some of the words because in english they would have been considered inappropriate.

Some solution could be to finish that forum data based lobby, and force to use it for public games (but only for these, so not like it was done right now, always shown login UI).
