,specular maps loading code isn't done yet. or I missed something?

I rewrote the shader to use the normalmap alpha channel for specularity. If a model doesn't use normalmaps, the diffuse is used instead, preserving backwards compatibility.

well.. alpha channel isn't the same as a monochrome specular map, but still works as a good start.
... or I don't understand something...

@Mangust: while editing is not entirely trouble free, the alpha channel can very well be used to describe any monochrome texture (values ranging from 0 to 1). Just avoid using black, because many image programs reduce the RGB values on entirely transparent pixels to black. My workaround is to increase the brightness by 1 before transferring the specmap to the alpha channel.

Okay, but anyway, specular mapping doesn't work without normal maps in wz, at least on win OS.
