Custom Vehicle skins?

Post by ArmyofFire515 »

Hello.

After playing warzone for a long while ( and mostly defeated by opponents who rush all the time ) I have grown tired of the few colours we can choose from.

Which is why I was wondering if it is possible for us the players to create our own unit skins? give our army's a sense of unique-ness.

Please let me know if It can or cannot be done.

You mean like the paint jobs that you can put on your faction's units in the upcoming mmorts game End of Nations? Sounds like a neat idea to me, though it'll make it harder to distinguish Project bodies from, say, New Paradigm or Collective bodies.

Yeah I guess you could call them paint jobs, The actually main body I guess could stay the same maybe customize the propulsion armour and the main gun.

for example I would not mind a flame paint job on the tank track armour lol

I am aware of that but with the if its a free for all game then team colours would not matter
plus in team games you could easily look at your radar to see who is on your side.

since current master is using a GLSL shader with teamcolour masks, any teamcoloured parts will probably have to stay monochrome. You can vary the brightness though, so you could make a mod where your tracks have teamcoloured flames.

On the other hand, this requires modding the game, and the current code doesn't allow unique textures for different players, so it wouldn't really be a personal custom paintjob, only a global paintjob mod.

extract the "palette.txt" file from your base.wz,
open it with notepad(or notepad++),
change team colors(use google too find codes for necessary colors).

hint: you can leave your changed palette.txt in "your wz2100 install directory"\base folder, i.e. D:\games\wz2100\base.

P.S. No need to implement Warhammer 40k(rts) features.

Well either way there could be an option to choose fan made skins, It's to help give players there own colours to identify with

Well, if you want the dawn of war-like customization feature, it requires changes to netcode, unit handling, textures, shaders and the models themselves to support multiple customizable color areas. I.e. not so easy.

Btw, red text is reserved for moderator comments, so you'll have to settle with just using black like everyone else.

If its reserved then they should make it unavailable.

hahahahahehehhahahaheheheeeeeeeeeeeeee

really good one, I couldnt stop laughing :) very good one man :) I dare to say that you have placed this statement between the topic message so gently that it is great :)

I like the idea :) although it would have to be with some sort of taste.. I wouldn like to see I dont know some sort of pink tanks with hello kitty signs or something like that :)
