There's the sensor turret and CB turret that can only have ground units assigned to them, then there's the VTOL sensor turret and VTOL CB turret that can only have VTOLs assigned to them. Why does it have to be like that? It just seems inefficient in terms of logistics to have sensors for both ground and air units, and CB radar for both ground and air units. (Who even does that for their military nowadays?) Wouldn't it be more convenient if there could be only 1 sensor turret (that can have both ground and air units assigned to it) and only 1 CB turret (that can have both ground and air units assigned to it) in the game?
NOTE: I realize that there's the Wide Spectrum Sensor, which combines the abilities of both sensors and both CB radars into one package, but that's a T3 system that combines both sensor and CB functions, which might not necessarily be needed for spotting targets for artillery (unless it needs to be accompanied by a CB vehicle for spotting enemy artillery, in which case combining the 2 may be a good idea).
While I'm on the subject of sensors and CB radar, perhaps how artillery respond to them should be worked on. I'd like for my artillery units to automatically fire on whatever any of my sensors or CB radars (whether mounted on vehicles or structures) see instead of having to assign them to a specific sensor or CB radar (though I'd still like to do that from time to time). Although I believe that artillery structures already do this on their own, I do wish that my artillery units could do this as well. I'd also like to be able to order my artillery to either focus on firing at what my sensors see, what my CB radars see, what my Radar Detectors see, or any combination of them (such as having my Hellstorms focus on counter-radar operations first and foremost, and supporting my sensors 2nd, while having my Ripple Rockets focus exclusively on counter-battery operations).
Finally, I wish that I could have my units, as a group, automatically fire either one-at-a-time (to reduce the chance of ammo going to waste) or simultaneously (in an attempt to overwhelm the target), though that would likely require assigning them to a commander or sensor. (By the way, why can't sensor units request fire support from artillery structures like commanders can?)
Sensor/artillery targeting could use some improvement.

You mean the alpha build? No I haven't played that. I've only played version 2.3.7.
