Whether any of this matters in copyright / IP law, I don't know, and I'm fairly confident you don't either. Hence consulting a lawyer.Seismo wrote:And i used it for study only. It is written in good old "c" and my engine and game is written in "c#" (c-sharp) which should lead you into the conclusion that there are a lot differences in language and design. So in any case i am not able to make a copy of the old or newer stuff and say its mine, is that clear so far? Btw. the quality of all sources i have seen here is so bad, that i would never make a copy, it would be a real shame for me.
Statistically, most people aren't copyright lawyers.
I neither blamed, nor misquoted. Learn to read. Seriously.Seismo wrote:Try to get better informed before blaming anyone by misquoting them.
Right, like some one who doesn't have any stakes nor claims in the matter would do such a thing.Seismo wrote: You are welcome to test my engine by any lawyer at your expense, so long.

@Seismo
Let's try to make things clear here.
After carefully reading all the posts have come to the conclusion that you might mean something like this:
You are making your own commercial game which is unrelated to warzone. You are using the source code of warzone as reference for coding certain solutions in the game engine. As a side project you are also doing a model conversion tool for training purposes, and since you might reuse parts the code for your own purposes you can't do it as a joint project with other wz developers.
Am I right?

Yes, i am not a native english speaker. This might be the root cause for my misunderstandings. I am sorry for that!
SafetyOff,
when i gain experiences by delving among books or source codes or blogs or professor google and use this to make my own software, do this harm any copyright?
Jorzi,
yes you are fairly right. But i realy do not reuse anything and i do not ask for support here. I guess my miserable english language skills are the reason for this heated-up debate. I am also sorry for that.

Re: Pie File Manager
Seismo .. what is your native language? You may be surprised at the spread of people here that speak English as a second language. Post your questions in your native tongue, please.
I'm with Jorzi -- there seems to be a language barrier at work here.

Yeah, people were concerned that you may be making a warzone-related commercial product, which can be done if you have enough knowledge about legal matters and licensing, but it is generally safer and easier not to try this.
Using warzone's source code only as reference is totally ok, however.

I think this particular discussion can be left to rest and what's left of this thread can focus on Seismo's pie manager.
