I agree Jake, I like all of it except that all light-body vehicles would be amphibious... The campaign idea is especially appealing.

Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
I was thinking that perhaps we could implement an optional add-ons system for the design screen in Warzone 2100, where, instead of having amphibious versions of wheeled, half-tracked, and tracked (and possibly hexapod) propulsion alongside non-amphibious versions, we could opt to select the body, propulsion, and weapon/system and have this checkbox full of optional add-ons for us to modify our vehicles with. Not only would this include an amphibious system, but it could also include such things as armor upgrades, automated repair systems, shields, cloaking device, weapon modifications, etc.
Personally, if I wanted to add new propulsion types, then I'd add some of the propulsion types that others have proposed, like that spider walker propulsion that could traverse cliffsides, or the helicopter propulsion (that I believe would have more HP than a VTOL, but slower speed), or even the bipedal mecha propulsion. (Personally, I think that they would be able to carry more firepower than a tank of the same cost, but have fewer HP due to how vulnerable the legs are. Since they're also taller than a tank, they should be able to see and fire over obstacles that a tank wouldn't, though they would also be easier to spot for the same reason.) I would also like to see some flying vehicles have infinite ammo, even if it would mean that they would deal about as much damage as if the same weapon was mounted on a tank.
In addition to all that, I'd also like to add an airship kind of vehicle that has very high HP (almost as much as a tracked vehicle), but moves slowly in the air. These airships would not necessarily be like modern-day blimps mind you, but rather, they'd be like flying cruisers like the Kodiak from Command & Conquer 4, or the Battlecruisers from Starcraft, only as small as the bodies that use them (ranging from as small as a Viper, to as big as a Dragon). (Technically, these airships could rely on a combination of buoyancy and turbine propulsion in order to stay airborne, much like a real-world hybrid airship.)
As for designing water maps, I personally wouldn't mind creating a map where opposing players are separated by a body of water, even in today's build. I mean, I've already created and uploaded a map in which some oil derricks could only be accessed through hovercraft or VTOLs, so designing a water map wouldn't be out of the question for me. In fact, I'm considering making one later on that's inspired by Corvana Chasm from Supreme Commander 2, only with a large body of water separating both teams instead of a gigantic chasm.

Bloody hell, you should be designing games, not modifying them!
Now, since about all I understood was Supreme Commander, (Sorry, I didn't get ANY sleep last night) please enjoy this while I try to come up with an answer.... http://www.moddb.com/mods/revamp-mod#comments

Hehehe, I so agree. The ideas that I had for improving upon Warzone 2100's design (including what I had proposed in my earlier post here) all sound like they'd be done more practically on a (spiritual) sequal.nighthawk wrote:Bloody hell, you should be designing games, not modifying them!

Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
Well, if you'd like to hear more of my ideas for a sequal to Warzone 2100, or if you'd like to brainstorm on an idea of a sequal of your own, then I made this thread for such a purpose. (Sadly, it never caught much attention, but hopefully, that could change?)
I feel that I've gone off-topic for too long, so let's get back on-topic: what propulsion ideas do you think would improve upon this game?

Haha, I'll take a look at it. (I'd like to work with you on making a sequel, or even a new game altogether, but I'll save that for later.)
Anyway, I just realized that when I posted this I did not know what VTOL stood for. Now I DO know, and well, I'm going to have to retract the helicopter idea on the premises that VTOL propulsion is the same as helicopter propulsion. (VTOL standing for Vertical Take Off and Landing)

There could be different types of vtol (like half tracks and tracks) like helicopter and the vtol used now. Or vtol could be renamed.Anyway, I just realized that when I posted this I did not know what VTOL stood for. Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
I don't think propulsions should be changed in WZ. Even naval units seem like a bad idea since we have hover.
