How hard would it be to add a minimal IRC client to the lobby?

Maybe integrate it with a forum login so your nick is the same as your forum/in-game name?

It's just an idea. I don't have any idea how IRC works and with cam4/Oblivion/Fallout 3 taking up my time I couldn't really implement it.

Its just that I think it would be a cool new feature

I've made a lobby client, but with xmpp protocol (jabber) for my diploma work. It was kinda hard coded & worked not well enough for public use. So I've started new one with IRC but using already made irc_lib (martyr-0.4 or irclib-1.10 hav'nt decided yet).
But I can resume to xmpp client if you guys prefer that one.

The most work will be to make a gui for the game.

I believe Red Eclipse has an irc client based on Enet which consists of a header and cpp pair only, which may or may not be useful if one of you take on this project.

irc & xmpp protocols has an option to "ignor user", so you won't be reading any annoying massages from that user anymore. As for cheating -it wrong topic. Cheaters detector is game-client side I think.

For what it is worth, I thought about adding a external client to launch Warzone, instead of what we have now, I thought it would have been a better way to setup games with a IRC client built in.

I guess you can say that idea was shot down for the most part.

If you want code to manage mods I can clean up the back end of my mod manager and make it into a C++ DLL I've been meaning to rewrite it for a while now.

Managing mods & map files isn't hard to make, but I'll get in touch if I would need it. Thanks. However I'm making new web design for my site, old PHPFusion kinda bored me much, so lobby client is in a hold state.

I think the mini IRC window idea is great !

I would also suggest the chat window in lobby itself to be modified a little bit.. for example by adding a litle more space for viewing the information already typed, when 8 people and now 10 ! types at one time it jumps like turbo cangaroo..

Also some subtle eye candy improvements would be nice

There is changes in my real life, so all work has in hold state. May be in september I'll resume to my site & lobby client.
