where is the log file

Post by youbob »

Hello again people.
I run Ubuntu linux, and I'm new to it. I heard of an log file; that keeps track of users, and their Ip addresses.

Can any one help me find it? What is the command directory for this file?

Thank you and have a nice day.

alternativley you can do a search for netplay-*.log and also WZlog-*.txt of the whole machine - making a note of where these files are finally located... and post the results for others that have the ubuntu linux distro... or am i wrong? :hmm:

THANKS A BUNCH.. these files where hidden. So that's why I had a hard time finding them. I found them my changing my search settings to search for hidden files, and there they were.

Now the only thing to do is learn how to read them or use them.

also this is where I get their IP from my logs.

Player 2 [Cyan] has joined, IP is:0:0:0:0:0:ffff:5b72:df42

This person was found cheating awhile back, How do I block him? I know how to block IP's from my router(and If I don't I will google it) But it's the Hex code there. How do you use it?

That is IPv6, not IPv4.
There are many online translators out there.
and it ends here.

I think you got it wrong bud, try using http://mxkit.com/webmaster-tools/ip-v6- ... -converter . And use the entire string "0:0:0:0:0:ffff:5b72:df42"
