Setting up Multi-player help

Post by Drosera »

I hope this is isn't a second posting.I don't think my first one went through.

I, my husband, and my brother-in-law have all been long time players of the old WZ 2100. I just found this site with the upgraded version. We have all downloaded it, and it works just fine.

The problem is that we have no idea how to set it up so we can play against each other. We have tried using the IP option, but an error message shows up saying something like " Connection failed. Make sure port 2100 is accessible. " It's something like that.

I have read the help files, but I have to admit that where networking is concerned, I jsut have no idea what I'm doing, even if I'm just trying to set up file transfers. I did check that UPnP was enabled on my router (Linksys) but beyond that, I really don't know what I'm supposed to be doing.

All 3 of us are on the same network. Will it be possible for us to play agaisnt each other? Would anyone care to walk me through whatever steps I need to do to make it happen? Naturally, I'll probide whatever information is needing to help the process.

Thank you very much! :)

For the lan, one person hosts the game. The other two people connect via IP.

You need to use the host's LAN IP address, not the external IP address. Something like 192.168.xxx.xxx.
Once you know the host's IP address, the other people type that in the direct IP connection, and it should connect.
(I assume all software firewalls are made to allow LAN traffic--each machine should be able to ping each other, and so on)

You can't connect through the lobby, unless your router is something better than a generic router, since it can't handle NAT correctly.
and it ends here.
