- i remember playing the game back when appeared (most likely the demo, as if i'm not wrong i only bought the game a few years later), the first few campaign missions, and by default you played orange colour (or orange-yellow). it was only recently, when either digged out my old 2 CDs or have tried the new open source versions that i suddenly had discovered i can no longer play orange (and instead, only dark colours, even the blue's very dark). WHY? i know one of the oposite team in campaigns seemingly features orange colour (of a sort), but nevertheless i clearly remember playing orange colour back in those days.
- also in the initial game, there was easy to adjust brightness, while in the open source versions, there's no such button anymore (and they are very dark); if there's a way, HOW?
- about the current versions (open source), are there any modifications on campaigns (besides bug fixings), like new weapons/bodies, perhaps even new missions ? i remember trying, a few years back, about 100 mods or so in the vane hope of seeing something different in campaigns (the mods, i later concluded, were only for skirmish/multiplayer)
- also, the campaign seems much easier with these new versions
- still about the new versions, isn't it about time you all talented people out there improve on graphics (especially land/sea textures, but also the units')? why zoom-in when all you see are blocky/ugly figures? a cool winter or desert new texture tile would be welcomed (btw, why not give units respective camo, too).
- as i had never been fond of flamers and such, can i skip researching them but still be able to access later weapons like 'heavy cannon', anti-tank rockets, advanced artillery (howitzers) & missiles? also, can i safely skip researching cyborgs & nexus (which i also never had used) but still obtain acces to those mentioned weapons? please simply answer yes or no, and not recommend me study the tech tree - i already tried that, and my head still hurts
thank you.
by the way, many thanks to all of you for keeping such a great game in modern attention. not only a great game, but a great story as well - by the way, special thanks for the one(s) who made available the movie package, as my old game, of course, wouldn't run on my current PC.
i only wish there were people out there still concerned with other 2 great RTS games from back then - War Inc. (cool research but terrible battles) and Earth 2140 (terrible research but cool battles; the lasers are unmatched even today, though i'm not exactly an accurate info center on modern RTS games).
