Mod isn't working

Post by Pendulum »

Hello, I'm new to this website. I've already beaten the game, and I installed a mod called "Warzone 2120" which supposedly takes place 20 years after 2100. I installed the mod EXACTLY how the FAQ told me to do so. I even added the "autoload" folder in the "mods" folder. I tried to open up Warzone 2100 and played in single player mode, yet, I don't see the md working for me because instead of playing the mod, it just started out as regular Warzone 2100, not Warzone 2120. If there's any way to use this mod so I can play it, please help out a fellow member. Thanks.

Pendulum: i guess you're doing something wrong, but also i think this is not relevant, because AFAIK wz2120 mod was not updated to work with v2.3.7 (and will crash anyway) (?)

@GiGaBaNE: I didn't search the forum for anybody who already asked this question :P I'm still new to this forum so I apologize for not looking for it.
@NoQ: I don't beleive I did anything wrong, although I do remember that on the FAQ, it said to upload ".wz" files only, and the mod didn't have any files like that. Also, if the wz2120 doesn't work with v2.3.7 of wz2100, then is it possible that you could tell me which version it would work with IF the download for that version is still available? Otherwise I'm dropping it and hopefully a new version of wz2120 will come out soon.

@both: Thanks for helping out with the explanations/info. At least I know why it won't work.

then you're certainly doing something wrong.

then intrestingly, the people who have uploaded the mod didn't quite follow the guidelines. By the way, there are two ".wz" files in my "Warzone 2100" Folder (In program files ).
1) base.wz
2) mp.wz

What exactly are these files?

The only one you should really open is mp.wz.

I'm not exactly sure what base.wz is for, but it has a lot of Campaign-related stuff in there. It also has Warzone's audio files in there. I once used it to modify the time limits for the campaign missions.

mp.wz is a bunch of files and folders that make up the multiplayer/skirmish part of Warzone 2100. That's where most people do their modding.

This is unmodded data. Mods are supposed to be some sort of differences to these files. These files are in a different directory (no, the mods shouldn't be next to them) and should actually never be changed, unless you know what you're doing and prepared to break the game installation.

not exactly since the real data are in the folder "base" and "mp". the .wz files appear to be a copy of those folders.

To those who want to mod the files : you can delete the unmodified files !! please ! Not only that make smaller mods, but also it's easier to understand what have been actually modded if you do so.
Heretic 2.3 improver and proud of it.
