Alpha 7

What exactly are the prerequisites for completing Alpha 7 (the one in which you try to fend off the New Paradigm from taking back their base to the East and North of your base)? I've done it before but the number of waves I repel every time seems completely arbitrary. Is it based on the number of enemy units you destroy?

i'm fairly sure that it would depend on the time you destroy the bases and therefore factories.

I apologize I was unclear; this is concerning the mission after the New Paradigm launches their first assult on your base, the second time you encounter them. Your task is to hold the plateau to the North-East of your base. The New Paradigm is launching transports full of combat units to various locations on the plateau and your task is to annihilate them. My question is, how does the mission determine if you've completed your objective or not, since the number of groups you take out before the mission ends seems to be random.
