True, many times I have been accused of cheating, but of course it was simply the other person being a sore loser.

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
A few days ago, i was on a 3v3 NTW and I wasn't on the host's team. My teammate, a certain Kratos said to me half way through building the base,
I was worried the host was going to kick me because of that false accusation, and so I was trying to explain to Kratos that it was possibly lag that was showing him weird things. Anyhow, Kratos began giving me and my teammate all his power and trucks and left the game. And then we had to rehost.
My views about being called a cheater? It hurts one's reputation, if not their ego.
My request to all online WZ gamers:
Whenever you play, hang around on the IRC #warzone2100-games channel. And if a player appears to be cheating, first ask with the folks in the channel about that player before making any accusations in the game. Most of the IRC guys have a list of players that they have blacklisted because they caught them cheating.
And I was like, "w00t??"Hey, Yellow, how are you building so fast. I just see your trucks building so fast. Are you cheating?

Yeah, and at least this list is usually much more trustworthy. Most of the IRC guys have a black list of players that they have seen cheating.

I'd be interested in seeing how many of my aliases are on that list.hao wrote:Yeah, and at least this list is usually much more trustworthy. Most of the IRC guys have a black list of players that they have seen cheating.

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
Haha... I finally got called a cheater by someone over multiplayer. Well, actually, someone said someone on my team was cheating- he probably meant me though, since I had by far the most units and I was using my new nickname (ChuckNorris-BDC).
So I guess I'm officially a skilled player.

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
I do agree.. the word "cheater" is often used in pair with "noob" and sometimes as maybe the players know what a cheater means I am really not sure if they always know what "noob" means.. really I observed.. and not only in game but also in hosting room some people suddenly call the others "noob" in a moment that do not fit there at all.. by that I mean the topic of the conversation says nothing or indicates nothing about "begginers like" behaviour of the other.. and can someone explain this mystery to me..
I know the legendary sentence already by heart that " I am better at mapmaking than playing"
but still I was called a cheater few times too.. One of good examples is also aboud building fast, the other guy said "orange is a cheater i have 2 factories and research centre and three generators and he has much more!!" :/ I had no comment here..
Another example was when our python tanks attacked cobra.. team.. and one said "stupid cheaters" and left the game..
Yet another, our 999999 riples waited for cannon meat.. and suddenly it appeared.. and dissapeared within seconds
the victim said "guys they cheat I see sparks from the sky and explode"...
And finally my favourite one
we attacked for the first time with Lasser Satelite
!! and !! the attacked guy said..
"is there a special cheat to make the buildings of others explode??"
gentlemen.. it was priceless..

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
I was only being called a cheater in the first days playing Warzone online on the last year, the match was a NTW-like cheat map with the player/slot 0 having Gauss Cannon Tiger Hover units on the south bases.
I wasn't aware of this and for my bad luck, i just spawned as the slot 0, i clicked the Enter of the Numeric Pad to see the ping of the people on the game, then i saw those damned tanks on the left of my name, headed south on my minimap and there was those tanks... i imediately quitted the game and on the next match (8c-GridLock with Alliances On) one people of the previous game started accusing me of cheating when i really wasn't, he keeped trolling me (yeah i just ignored him) until he gaved up and quitted the game, of course that i lost the match.
Regards BP

There are a lot of definitions of the term "noob" just check the following link: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=noobMerowingg wrote:I am really not sure if they always know what "noob" means.. really I observed.. and not only in game but also in hosting room some people suddenly call the others "noob" in a moment that do not fit there at all..

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
The only time I can remember being called a cheater was in some noobish game (vtol disabled) on sqaured game, because the other team didn't know how to use CB towers to protect their ripple rockets of ultimate doom. Next game, I got kicked from the lobby without question based on some noobs insistence.

Yay, that's some Old Thread Bumping Day today!
Sorry to disappoint you, but over 95% cheating rumors originate from desyncs (:
It's quite possible he didn't hear the laser satellite message due to bad syncAnd finally my favourite onewe attacked for the first time with Lasser Satelite

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
In the past, threads on cheaters were locked down and closed. This thread instead is about being called a cheater when there is no cheating involved. But there are also comments about cheating and blacklists. Funny how that works. As with any game there will always be cheaters, and there will always be those that accuse anyone and everyone of cheating.
MiniUPnP is good, but with its introduction that enabled almost anyone to host also made it possible for cheaters to join a large variety of games with hosts that do not know how to detect cheaters with any accuracy and also block them. Therefore there are people that suspect cheaters in every game because there is no control.
Ive seen many cry cheat because of lag and or the game out of sync. The Master version has some fix's that prevent cheating and no more random explosions due to lag/desync. Yet many are still playing 2.3.7. With the 2.3 beta's, many were playing them as soon as they came out. There are not very many playing the Master beta's and I don't know why.
There are very few new players that play this game and stick around for any length of time. The answer of "play games thru IRC" I find a little troublesome also. New players go straight for the lobby server, not IRC, and may never wind up on IRC.

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
That's been on my mind, aswell. I assume some don't have the CPU/gfx capabilities, while others are content with 2.3.7. Perhaps they just don't realize how stable the current alpha is? I know for certain some choose not play it because they don't like the power system, and friendly fire features. Aside from the netcode improvements, though, I'm not sure if many know about the other things they can be happy about playing it such as joiners seeing the ping of other players before the game starts or being able to assign trucks to holograms in the building que.BunkerBlaster wrote:I... At the moment, I'd say the alpha's are stable enough for some MP play, but it can be a little choppy. If you stick to small maps, and don't go unit or structure crazy (limits have gotten a bit of a ridiculous increase) you should be ok.
I think that's why some of us promote the IRC channels here on the forum. I found IRC by chance while browsing the site looking for the Guide. There are very few new players that play this game and stick around for any length of time. I also want to state again that visiting an IRC channel. wheteher it is Warzone 2100 or Warzone 2100 Games, will help and improve organisisng games, as people can talk more there, than in fast as always lobby rooms.. and they can talk and share information and opinions about the game.. also frieds and nice relations occur between pople gathered on IRC channels, as we well know pople with the same interest gather for centuries together and gain profit from it

Re: A new veiw on being called a "cheater"
i do agree with Mero about the irc channel thing i usally only play games organized an irc just to weed out noobs or the cheaters (which i have been called many times for rushing or a have lots ofoil on ntw which it is beyond me way people think that is cheating. or some how making buildings explodeor a.k.a laser sattile ) or poeple who quit when they are losing
