hi all
just noticed something a little odd when i put my vtols on to patrol mode several times i noticed one of two of them taking off before rearming was done so they fly out cant do anything because they have no ammo and then they fly back this isn't caused by not having enough landing pads because i had a pad for each vtol
has anyone else noticed this ? if you have you got any idea whats causing it and how to put a stop to it
Possible VTOL bug ?

this also existed in the original version. up to and including the 1.12 prior to source code release. how to correct it - dunno. have you also noticed that some times after firing, if the vtol flys over certain spots on the map , they become stuck untill you tell them to land and then have them takeoff again, if they dont get shot down first? darn vtol pilots... not enuff training flights.

Re: Possible VTOL bug ?
yeah that happen to me last night on beta 8 when i tried bombing the north eastern base my vtols kept getting stuck inbetween the 2 building that are on the south west corner of the north eastern base whats even more strange is that they still seem to get stuck even after I'd taken out the buildings in question
the effect looks like running into an invisible wall so some how i think the cause of vtols getting stuck is not necessarily a bug with vtols but rather that the buildings are not being removed properly when you blow them up this can be confirmed with a simple test
on beta 8 just to the left of your LZ there is a neutral building destroy it and then build some vtol rearming pads in the black square that remains and then order your vtols to land on the pads they wont be able to because even though you have removed the building as far as your vtols are concerned the building is still there so they get stuck on an invisible wall
here's a screen shot of the effect

it's a little more difficult to see whats going on in a still shot like that but give it a go try loading up a save before you have blown up the building blow it up build some rearming pads there and then try to land vtols on the rearming pads and you wont be able to they will get stuck on an invisible wall
so evidently the building in question is not being remove properly it should be noted however if you blow that building up save your game then reload the building will be fully removed and then the vtos can land on the previously blocked pads
again here is a screen shot

as you can see now that i have saved with the building in question gone and reloaded the building is now fully removed and i can now use the previously blocked pads
this is definitely a bug that should be investigated and fixed maybe i should make a ticket for this one if there isn't one already
I've attached a save file that can be tested with if anyone wants to look at this effect for them selves
