Warzone v2.3.7 errors
Hi all
I recently started plying Warzone again I'm presently running version 2.3.7 and I'm getting all sorts of error message popping up at the top of the screen and it says check the error log I've attached them below
I also encountered a couple of other things I'm not sure if there bugs or what but I'll describe them any way as i feel the current behavior is incorrect
first off scanner units are ignoring the hold position stance when hold position is set if the scanner should lock on to an enemy than moves into range when the unit moves away the scanner will start to chase it as it would when set in pursue mode this is quit obviously not suppose to be happening the scanner should honer the hold position command
second the retreat when damaged command keeps overriding my control normally I'll have my units set to retreat when damage however on occasion this happens behind enemy lines meaning that the retreating units must take a specific route back to get repaired aka go back the way I've just come so that it doesn't run into any enemy units or turrets however when i click on the retreating unit and try to make it go back the way I've just come it ignores my command and keeps heading back to the repair bay vie the most direct route usually resulting in the unite getting killed as it try's to get back to the repair bay right through all the enemy's guns
what i suspect is happening is that the retreat command is triggering i select the unit try to make it move the way i want it to so that it doesn't run head first in to enemy guns then its gets shot again which again triggers the retreat command which then overrides my previous command giving the impression that the previous command has been ignored this is extremely annoying and the computer should not be overriding my control
another glitch I've noticed is with units movement they frequently get stuck and cant move this is most prevalent when you are controlling groups of units and one or 2 of the units try to retreat because there damaged but it can happen any time when you have units trying to pass each other in opposite directions surly there must be some way to improve this behavior so that units don't keep getting stuck causing a traffic jam
accuracy is also an issue that causing serious problems what i mean by this is that there are some places on most levels where its completely impossible to hit the opposing target for example Alpha 12 on this level there are a lot of turrets that are on ridge lines and because you are shooting upwards on an angle the turrets are all but impossible to hit with anything other than artillery
the same holds true when you are shooting down on targets as well once again targets can be all but impossible to hit because your shots keep striking the edge of the ridge you are shooting from this even happens when fighting on uneven ground for example on Beta 1 just outside your base there is a little hill and i quite often find that if collective units are sitting on the crest of that hill i can't hit them unless I'm bumper to bumper at point blank range because my shots keep hitting the ground though this can happen on any level where the ground is uneven which is extremely frustrating later on this isn't so much of a problem as you have more options for dealing with hard to hit targets but in the earlier stages of the game this can be quite infuriating when you have a squad of 20 bunker busters and not one of them can hit the bunker you are shooting at
or you are trying to take out an opposing unit and all your tanks shells keep ploughing into the the ground instead of striking the target resulting in having to close to point blank range because the terrain keeps getting in the way with rapid fire units this isn't so much of a problem but with weapons like lancer rockets or heavy cannon this can be quite irritating surely there must be some way to improve this
some how i think units in this game need to be taught how to shoot, drive & follow orders properly
couple of additional things which i don't think are so much bugs as they are short comings of the game which still need addressing
repair units these units have several short comings that i feel should be addressed
1.) there to slow and unable to keep heavy units up my suggestion would be to add the heavy repair turrets from the skirmish mode to the campaign near the end of chapter 1 when you first get heavy units
2.) the repair range is to short the repair units shouldn't need to be bumper to bumper with the damage unit before it can conduct the repair my suggestion to fix this would be to increase the distance from which the repair can be conducted
3.) there reaction range is also to short
for example on beta 1 ill have repair units sitting on the landing pad where you get dropped off and when units retreat they will usually retreat to the command center when there is no repair bay however the repair units wont move to repair the damage units even though there in close proximity its like the repair units just don't see the damage units this i think needs fixing and the reaction range needs increasing a bit
builder units i think need to have the range of there construction beam increased a bit as well because when using multiple builders one 1 building if its something like a turret you cant use more then about 3 or 4 builders at once because they keep getting in each others way because the range of there construction beam is way to short
builder units should also not block the construction of buildings and should move out the way automatically and if terrain is modifiable then it should also not block the construction of buildings because quite often ill find that there are some parts of the map where by default it wont let me build but after i start building and cancel other building in the general location i want to build eventually the terrain will be modified such that it will eventually let me build at that location this messing about should be unnecessary and it should just let me build there by default and then modify the terrain appropriately to allow that to happen

there are quite a lot of things you noticed!
But for bugfixing it is better if you create a ticket for every single bug, if it´s possible with screenshots/savegames attached.

This bug was occuring in 2.3.6. as well. It seems like they still need to fix it for regular versions. As far as I know it happens on purpose that damaged units are heading back to the nearest repair-possibility. But I don´t know if it really happens on purpose that the unit ignores your command.when i click on the retreating unit and try to make it go back the way I've just come it ignores my command and keeps heading back to the repair bay vie the most direct route usually resulting in the unite getting killed

Maybe you can attack a savegame to the ticket from the 2.3.7 version or open up a new one and and add savegames to it.
After a bugfix in 2.3.6 this seems to be in 2.3.7, too.

This has been improved in master, with units trying harder to position themselves correctly to fire, and buildings not firing at impossible targets. Some of this should probably be backported to 2.3, but it is a huge patch and much work. However, I wonder if we are going about this the wrong way. If we fix all the cases where buildings hit the ground, we will end up with buildings that seemingly fail to fire for no good reason, because players have a hard time visualizing how lines of sight between two objects on the map might be interrupted by curves in the terrain. This can be quite frustrating. I've noticed that units in Starcraft2 seem able to hit each other no matter how absurd the angles, and yet bullets don't go through terrain. Not sure how they do it, I suspect they cheat by using a billboarding technique (ie bullets are not in real 3D).

Well this is great news then. As 2.3.7 ceased to work on my Eee I'll have to switch to my custom PC to play. I don't have any trouble there with the 3.0B or the master versions.

Maybe you can attach a save game to the ticket from the 2.3.7 version or open up a new one and add save games to it.
what do i need to attach ? just the .gam file or do you need all the files associated with the saves in question

It's the .GAM file + the folder of the same name. But take a look first to the 3 uploaded, if they fit your problem.

no matter I've uploaded my data from alpha 12 which shows the targeting issue I'm having and if needs be i can do one for beta 1 as well but i think the alpha 12 save shows the issue well enoughError: Invalid Attachment

as i understand it this is a problem that can only be fixed by the dev's so i guess we'll have to wait for the next release hopefully they will have done something about it by then because its bloody irritating and infuriating not being able to hit targets even when you should have a clear firing line

I'll add another problem that makes me want to hit the monitor.Radar spotter units get killed by their own friendly fire if i try to pick up an artifact, i loose 50% of my spotters that way. ITS BLOODY GAY! i select the artifact and radar unit goes to pick it up and my own artillery targets artifacts spot!!!!!!!! GRRR!!! and many times after targeting enemy i tried to move my radar unit to a safe spot and again my artillery fires at exact place i want my radar to move to... lost another one >_>.I am not gonan bother with the tickets, i never do,just venting my frustration.
