Crash to Desktop, Warzone 2.3.6

Post by Cactus_austriacus »

Hi

I have a Windows 7 (64 Bit) pc with a raide system, an Intel Core i7 and an ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series graphic card.
I play Warzone 2.3.6 (German) but it crashes every few minutes (I think the problem is allways during a fight is).
When it crashes the monitor get black and a litle bit later it starts again, show the desktop and warzone doesn´t react any more (is in the taskline).
What should I do that it works?

Thankyou for your help

Unless you have more details. Error message or something, I would say there is no much we can do now.

Developpers are already working on another version of the game. The bug that you are experiencing might already be fixed in the new version. You might want to try if the bug continu in the 3.0-beta 4 ?
Heretic 2.3 improver and proud of it.

problem is simple win7 64bit + ati drivers + directX 10

and ati was all ways known for being better at direct 3d then openGL

directx 10+ is trash at supporting anything direct 3d9 or older and if you combine that with newer ati hardware and drivers even in winxp all hell brakes lose when trying to run older software.

everyone has this problem with newer ati hardware .they have a pile of drivers atm that are crashing everyone all over the place on the net.

mess with your video driver version and or get ati tray tools and mess around in their and or lunch {WINDOWS\system32\dxdiag.exe or start\run\dxdiag.exe} and try and disable some stuff on the video topic in their unless of cores theirs no options to play with in their in that case send a email to bill gates for me on the topic of how grate win7

The problem is that the game doesn't crash consitantly, I just crashes randomly after 5 til 20 minutes in game, so for testing three different option it takes me about an hour, and ati has more then three options. Do you maybe know any specific option who couse that?

Or could maybe a virtual machine help with that?

thanks a lot,

well best beat really is to have a twin boot setup for ibm compatible machines imho .
winxp pro\win7

important! :lecture:
btw im assuming before we get going that you have checked\done\read all the basics for trying to figure out the problem and as well have checked all known FAQ lists on this forum\home page and done that as well for the program in question & full virus\anti spy were scan ~ uninstalled\reinstalled all drivers for you main hardware or as much as possible.

question
as well what have to tryed so far to fix the problem ? and douse the problem show it self in other 3d software.

Cactus
When it crashes the monitor get black and a little bit later it starts again
that a atypical win7 driver crash\reset.
win vista\win7 has the ability to 100% reset the video hardware unlike older version of windows and their hole driver model has changed vs older versions of windows.

as for your problem i don't know 100% whats going on at your end only that iv done a lot of research on the topic for my self and others in the past 2 months and that ati and win7 atm seems to have piles of problems on the compatibility topic with older software and in some cases software that's not even that old.
nvidia had problems too on the driver topic not all that long ago that was even worse.the cooling fan on the card wouldn't rpm and spin up as the gpu temp got going when combined with other software that was installed .
the cards would fry in this case seeing as most video card makers like to put the cut off temp on their cards at like 140c .
gpu is dead long before that .
imhi the gpu cut off temp should be 80c max.
my self direct connected my video cooling setup right in to the psu..problem solved.
and the temp never gos past 60c under load.

besides that you can use ati tray tools to be able to play around with your video hardware on a driver level a lot more then the default driver will let you http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=733

trick here its to try and put your video hardware in to "safe mode" if you know what i mean then over time start re-enabling things slowly to see were the problem is.

you can all so play around with compatibility mode in win7.
a round of internet research on the topic of best driver for your video hardware is probably in order as well.

sadly compatibility mode in micro $oft junk software imho is about as compatible as putting a bag of dirt in chicken soup for extra flavor.
good thing micro $oft didn't try and make a super Nintendo emulator because if they did only 10 games out of 3000 would work.
and they have piles of source code and $$$ so theirs no reason in my mind why they cant make it work.
more like they just don't care.

btw whats your video card\cpu\system temperature after 10 min of use and system temp and cpu temp .as well whats your psu make\model

thanks a lot,
all good man .i don't mind helping people out in the wild\out out of blue some times .
some info about my self .Canada\37\m\gray hat\work at home free lance pc hardware tech\computer experience 1980~now~ibm completable computers only\computer work space~shop like you find at the back of a computer store.started with apple ][+\atari 2600 at the age of 10~12 ish.

and limit of your understanding of ibm compatible computer systems will be the limit of how far i can help you seeing as if i raise the bar too high you simple wont be able to implement the changes and or test the ideas in question and its very hard to figure out a problem from a distance seeing as what takes one week to do in a forum takes me 5 min if the computer is in my work shop.

and ya i know im new to this forum. :ninja:
