I am an IT admin so i can help you, but since you say that the FAQ did not help you, it would be nice to know how geeky you are before i give you a long winded explanation.

1. Do you have a router?brakenfur 54 wrote: can`t connect to server make sure like some portt is open
2. Did you manage to open the port like the FAQ said?
3. If you can't find your exact router (assuming you have one) look for a similar model (also skip the ad for software if that comes up) .
4. Some anti-virus/firewall software will blocks ports, see if you can an add an exception if required.
5. Your ISP may also block certain ports. You can call them and ask if the port is blocked but this is fairly rare.
Also make sure you try hosting a few times in game sometimes it can just fail to connect the first time but will work the second time.

Re: help how can you host a muliplayer game
ok, non geeky explanation: in windows xp, go to control panel, open network connections, click on the connection that is connected and click details, click on the support tab and you should see a label marked either router or gateway (something to the effect of that). that is the routers ip address usually it is "192.168.1.1" so take that and paste it into your web browser's address bar and hit enter. it will ask for your username and pasword if you havent changed it it should be by default username:"admin" or "administrator" and pass:"admin" or "password". Once in look for a tab marked port forwarding or aplications and gaming - something to that effect. once in, in the first slot type the ip address of YOUR MACHINE you can find that in the network connections too - if onle one computer is on the network most likely it would be 192.168.1.100. then input the tcp and udp port numbers to forward - in this case both would be 2100. then hit apply and all done
.
NOTE: you may have to add wz2100 to the allow list on any firewall and antivirus programs you have too

ok - for windows 7/vista, replace everything i said about control panel with this:
open control panel, go to "networking and sharing center" - it should look something like this:

Click on "connections: name of your connection"
.... continue with instructions like on windows xp

Re: help how can you host a muliplayer game
So I'm new to this, yet not so new to the game. Played it quite a bit when I was younger. Anyhow, glad to be able to play it again. I had downloaded a copy here a while ago, and didnt have any problems playing it online. I've recently tried again and had to get an upgraded version. Now I keep getting the message "connection timed out", and that port 2100 blocked. I've read the the other posts here and followed the instructions, (port forwarding and the such) but to no avail. I'm pretty sure that I've crossed all my T's and dotted the i's (so to speak), so what options do I have left?

Re: help how can you host a muliplayer game
here's the good news i can connect to games ( ie join them )
but i cannot host. yes port forwarding is on and pointing to my PC.
Went as far as turning off my firewall (though i have exceptions for warzone in the firewall )
had no issues before when i was playing / hosting the 2.2 release or the betas for 2.3.
really am looking forward to being able to play the 2.3 final
UPnP is on
The only thing that i have changed is the release i am playing.
